Truco assists in water treatment works upgrade Truco, a leading South African rubber specialist, has assisted in the upgrade of the Sundumbile Water Treatment Works in KwaZulu Natal. The purpose of the upgrade was to increase water delivery to industrial and residential areas in Isithebe and Mandini by 50%. This was accomplished by replacing the pumps in the treatment works that moved water through the purification process. An alternative method had to be found to pump water into the purification dams in order to ensure a continuous supply of water to the area. This was facilitated by the creation of a mobile pumping system. However, the hose used in the system collapsed due to the high demand of 950 l3/h, with sand content, and resulted in water being cut off to the Isithebe Industrial Park.
