Frequently Asked Questions

What is PVC flooring made of?

Our PVC flooring is made from a heavy-duty, high-grade polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin blended with structural calcium carbonate fillers for high-impact density, plasticisers to give the tiles their flexible, impact-absorbing "rubberised" feel, and thermal and UV stabilisers to prevent warping or fading under heavy traffic.

How to clean PVC flooring?

To clean PVC flooring effectively, start by sweeping or vacuuming with a soft brush setting to remove abrasive dirt and grit that can scratch the surface. For routine cleaning, mop the floor using a damp, never soaking wet, microfibre mop paired with a simple solution of warm water mixed with either a few drops of mild dish soap or a cup of apple cider vinegar, which cuts through grime without leaving a dull residue.

For tough stains or scuffs, gently rub the spot with a baking soda paste or a drop of WD-40, ensuring you wipe it clean afterwards. Always avoid steam mops, harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia, and abrasive scrubbers, as these can permanently warp the vinyl, dissolve the adhesive underneath, or strip away the floor's protective wear layer.

Which PVC flooring is best?

The best PVC floor tiles in our range of products are the heavy-duty interlocking PVC floor tile system, designed specifically for demanding commercial, industrial, and recreational environments rather than domestic living spaces. It is available in robust 5 mm and 6 mm thicknesses.

What is the difference between vinyl and PVC flooring?

Vinyl and PVC flooring are essentially the same thing, as PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is the exact plastic polymer used to make vinyl floors. While the terms are chemically interchangeable, the flooring industry often uses "PVC flooring" to describe flexible, highly durable, commercial-grade sheet or tile flooring installed in hospitals or schools, whereas "vinyl" is used as the broader consumer umbrella term that includes residential, multi-layered products like Luxury Vinyl Planks (LVP) that mimic wood or stone. Ultimately, the difference comes down to the format, thickness, and style of the specific product rather than a difference in the material itself.

Is PVC flooring better than tiles?

PVC flooring is more durable in the sense that it does not chip like ceramic tiles. PVC tiles also do not require grout and can easily be replaced, unlike other tiles – ideal for high traffic zones. PVC tiles are commonly used in car service centres, tyre fitment centres, gyms, kitchens, work areas or pedestrian areas in airports, and train stations.

Can PVC flooring be installed outside?

Standard interior PVC flooring cannot be installed outside because it is not engineered to withstand the elements. While the material itself is entirely waterproof, direct sunlight and UV rays will rapidly fade the design, while fluctuating outdoor temperatures cause the PVC to expand, contract, and warp, ultimately destroying the adhesive underneath and causing the floor to buckle or gap.
