Truco hose to help increase plant output in Namibia Rubber specialist Truco has delivered 60m of 500, 810 and 934 mm ID pulp and slurry hoses worth more than R500 000 to Namdeb's Elizabeth Bay plant in Namibia. Incorporating Truco's new double flange technology, the hoses will be capable of functioning under very high processing pressures at the mine. The R400-million Elizabeth Bay upgrade project is set to increase Namdeb's diamond output and extend the mine life by six to ten years. The capability of Truco's hoses, incorporating the double flanges to handle high pressures over extended periods, will be crucial to the success of this venture. "When we designed the double flange, longevity was precisely what we had in mind. For example, tailings pump hoses, incorporating the double flange, can handle pressures of up to 40 bar with a 3:1 safety factor," informs Mike Stuart, Director - Truco Hose Division. "Using the double flange for water pump applications allows the hose to be constructed in such a way that it eliminates the potential of rupturing the liner through movement, resulting in longer hose life."
