Truco opens new plant Truco (Transvaal Rubber Company), a leading South African rubber specialist, has opened a new manufacturing plant as part of its accelerated export drive into Africa. Recent and current contracts to supply products to various mining projects throughout Africa have spurred the company's expansion initiative. These projects are valued at over R8m. "Various hoses and hose fittings were supplied to a number of mines throughout Africa. Our range of rubber pulp and slurry hoses is ideal for use in the mining industry. It offers durable and cost effective solutions for any mining problem," says Truco Project Manager Herbie Crooks. "We recently supplied an order for the Kansanshi mine refurbishment project in Zambia. This is a mine extension project. The original plant was built in 2004 and we supplied all the pulp and slurry hoses. A few months later we received another order for the Kansanshi pressure oxidisation project which aims to introduce a pressure oxidisation and ancillary plant to enable the mine to convert some of the concentrates into feed for the copper cathode plant."
