Truco supplies high-pressure hoses to customer specifications The ability to offer a custom-made product that has been thoroughly tested for use in tough operating applications ensured that Truco was awarded the order to supply high-pressure pump- and dumphoses to Fraser Alexander (Ltd), as well as gun monitor hoses to Grinaker LTA, for mining and recovery of heavy minerals. Fraser Alexander, a diversified environmental services, mining and manufacturing group, approached Truco with the challenge of meeting stringent specifications in the manufacture of the hoses. Specifically, the hoses were required to withstand up to 40 bar working pressure, when fitted to monitor pumps at tailings dumps. After a period of development work, Truco opted for high-pressure hoses with a tough rubber cover, reinforced with a special steel cord. The hoses were also supplied with customised, built-in fittings and protective buffers. A total of 20 x 150 ID hoses capable of operating at 30 bar, 26 x 200 ID hoses with a 40 bar ceiling, and 3 x 150 ID hoses working at 15 bar were supplied by Truco. Tailings management forms an important part of Fraser Alexander's focus. Not only is it beneficial to the environment, but it is also highly lucrative, as the yield of gold ore per tonne in relation to the cost is significantly greater.
