Truco supplies hoses to de beers new generation diamond mine Transvaal Rubber Company (Truco) - one of Africa's largest manufacturers and distributors of mining and industrial rubber products - supplied bends and 10 bar pulp and slurry hoses, valued at half-a-million rand and totalling 330 metres in length, to the new dense medium separation plant at De Beers' Voorspoed mine. The hoses were specifically designed and manufactured to suit the requirements of the mine, which was constructed earlier on in the year. The Voorspoed mine in South Africa will start production in 2009, producing about 800 000 carats annually and employing 420 staff. Situated 30 km north-east of Kroonstad in the Free State, the mine first produced diamonds in 1906. The owners at the time closed the mine, due to metallurgical processes of the day not recovering enough diamonds from the hard kimberlite.
