Truco wins large fender order Truco KZN, associate company of Transvaal Rubber Company (Truco), has been awarded a R5-million tender to supply 5 sets of tug boat fenders, which will be used on new tug boats ordered by the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA). Truco has been working closely with the TNPA for many years in supplying tug boat fending systems. Truco KZN Managing Director, Wray Radford, says that the 5 sets will be delivered in early 2009 with the tugs due to be constructed over the next couple of years. "Each set of fenders will be manufactured by Trelleborg Marine Systems (Fentek) and consists of cylindrical fenders for the bow and stern of the vessel, W-fenders on the bow for pushing, and wing D-fenders to be used as beltings on the tugs for port side and starboard side for protection. The fenders will also carry PIANC worldwide approval certification."
