Truco wins large fender order

The cylindrical fenders are used as the main pushing fenders, with their shape making them ideal for working with large bow flares, such as container ships. The W-fenders, also used for pushing, provide a large flat contact face for low hull pressures. This makes them ideal for working with soft hull ships such as tankers and bulk carriers. The wing D-fenders are used as alternatives to other profiles as beltings for tugs and workboats. These fenders are well suited to tugs performing escort duties and other similar applications.

The order saw Trelleborg Marine Systems (Fentek) being involved in the design process. "The tug boats that are being built are slightly larger than previous models and thus needed customised fenders. We are working closely with technology specialists at Trelleborg Marine Systems (Fentek) to ensure that the end-user gets the best product for their project," says Radford.

Truco is the sole southern African distributor of the Trelleborg Marine Systems (Fentek) range of fenders, including full support and design capabilities, and has established relationships with end users to ensure optimum working life of fenders.

Truco also recently supplied 300 x 300 mm D-fenders and a cylindrical fender to Namport for tugboats in Walvis Bay.
