Conveyor pulleys are designed for use on conveyor belt systems to drive/redirect the conveyor belt on its system through tension that is created.

All conveyor systems will include at least two pulleys: a head pulley and a tail pulley. The additional pulleys are dependent on the application requirements.

Types of Conveyor Belt Pulleys

Head Pulleys/Drive Pulleys

Typically located at the discharge point of a conveyor belt system (by the motor) & drives the conveyor belt. These conveyor pulleys are normally larger in diameter than others, and are typically lagged with rubber or ceramic material to increase traction, thus reducing belt spillage as well as the belt tension.

Tail Pulleys/Return Pulleys

Typically located at the loading end of the conveyor belt system, these pulleys redirect a conveyor belt towards the head pulley. These conveyor pulleys are either flat faced or slatted & ‘clean’ the belt by enabling material to fall between its support members.

Snub Pulleys

This conveyor pulley increases belt wrap tension around a drive pulley, thus improving traction.

Bend Pulleys

This conveyor pulley redirects the conveyor belt in any required direction through tension that is created at the bends in the conveyor belt system.

Take-up Pulleys

This adjustable conveyor pulley can increase or decrease belt slack tension to meet the requirements of your application. This is done using a box of weights attached to the verticla take up unit.
